Memphis picks off Middle Tennessee in 24-17 win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Ray Gregory scored two touchdowns following interceptions for Middle Tennessee in a 24-17 win over Memphis on Saturday night.

Gregory, who rushed for 121 yards on 25 carries, scored on a 9-yard run to give the Tigers (1-2) a 10-3 lead early in the second quarter.

Todd Washington’s interception of Logan Kilgore set up the score, putting Memphis on the Blue Raiders’ 36.

The Tigers again intercepted Kilgore in the third quarter, this time by Mohammed Seisay, and again it resulted in a 9-yard score by Gregory.

Ryan Wilson finished with 129 yards and a touchdown on 15-for-28 passing for Memphis. It was Wilson’s first start after Cannon Smith suffered a concussion during the Tigers’ game against East Carolina the previous week.

Kilgore finished with 161 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions on 16-for-26 passing for the Blue Raiders (1-2).
