OMAHA (GaeaTimes.com)- On Friday, although for most of the night it was Hartford Colonials who dominated the field, at the end it was Omaha Nighthawks that took the win coming up with some good passes at the last few seconds of the play. With NFL veterans like Robert Ferguson, Jeff Garcia and Ahman Green the Omaha Nighthawks emerged with a 27-26 win over the Hartford Colonials at the Rosenblatt Stadium which had a sell out crowd of 24,000. It was the first game of Omaha Nighthawks at the five-team United Football League which entered its second season this year.

During the first three quarters of Monday night, it was the Hartford Colonials who ruled the field and the Omaha Nighthawks were seen trailing behind by many points. Towards the end of the third quarter, Omaha Nighthawks were trailing by 13 points. The score boards read 23-10 in favor of the Hartford Colonials. However, there was no sign of resignation among the players of the Omaha Nighthawks who came up with some aggressive play towards the end. It was Jeff Garcia’s 12-yard pass to Robert Ferguson with six seconds left for the play to end that changed the face of the game. The pass led to a tie and Jeff Wolfert then went for a quick extra-point kick that brought the victory for the Omaha Nighthawks.

As Resenblatt Stadium burst into celebration, the players of the Omaha Nighthawks joined them celebrating their first success in this year’s United Football League. An elated Omaha Nighthawks coach, Jeff Jagodzinki said to media sources, “That’s the way to start a franchise”. He held that the players are brimming with energy and the win means a lot to them.
