Murray State blows out Tennessee-Martin 52-16

MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State scored 28 points in the opening quarter and had 443 yards of offense in a 52-16 blowout win over Tennessee-Martin on Saturday night.

Dontrell Johnson’s 91-yard punt return for a touchdown put the Racers (1-3, 1-1 Ohio Valley Conference) in front less than two minutes into the game.

A 10-yard touchdown pass from Marshyl Rothman to Casey Brockman, followed by a 2-yard scoring run by Duane Brady put Murray State in front 21-0 with 6:01 left in the first quarter.

Tennessee-Martin (1-3, 1-1) got on the board thanks to a 14-yard touchdown pass from Derek Carr to Bryant Milligan late in the first.

The Racers however, continued to score as Jeff Ehrhardt had TD passes of 9 and 25 yards and Brockman added a 14-yard TD run to keep them comfortably ahead, 42-7.

Mike Harris scored the game’s final touchdown on a 1-yard run with 12:16 to play.
