Maine defeats New Hampshire 16-13 in overtime
ORONO, Maine — Brian Harvey kicked a 37-yard field goal in overtime, giving Maine a 16-13 win over New Hampshire on Saturday night.
New Hampshire began overtime with possession, but on second-and-11 from the Maine 26, R.J. Toman’s pass was intercepted by Jerron McMillian.
Maine (2-3, 1-1 Colonial Athletic Association) then ran it three times, setting up the kick. It was Harvey’s second field goal attempt of the game after missing a 46-yarder in the first quarter. He also had an extra point blocked in the second quarter.
The Black Bears trailed 13-6 after Mike McArthur’s 47-yard field goal with 2:47 left in the fourth quarter, but tied it on the next possession. Warren Smith threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Derek Buttles to force overtime with 1:12 left.
Toman led the Wildcats (2-3, 0-2) with 304 yards a touchdown and three interceptions on 26-for-38 passing.
