ARLINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- Many people were anticipating the obvious victory of Manny Pacquiao, in his fight against Antonio Margarito. The expectations of these people came true as he won the World Boxing Council (WBC) super welterweight title fight at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. He thereby created a record of being the first boxer to win 8 world titles in 8 different weight divisions, by retaining this title against the amateurish challenger Antonio Margarito.
Right now Manny Pacquiao holds 52 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws, while Antonio Margarito has 38 wins and 7 losses. The victory of the former was declared when the fight ended in twelve rounds and the judges declared a match score of 120-108, 118-110, 119-109 in favor of his unanimous victory. However, it was not a cake walk for the winner. He said that he was quite surprised with the strength and disposition of his Mexican challenger, as he was hitting his body and face. On the other hand, Antonio Margarito’s coach Robert Garcia, accused Manny Pacquiao for his hand wraps. Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach, initially said that his trainee can knock the challenger down within six rounds. This was because, he thought Antonio Margarito had frequent, impulsive, amateurish and strategically wrong punching techniques. He asked Manny Pacquiao to make full use of that drawback in order to make his way. He was also sure about the champion’s speed and disposition, which could overshadow the challenger.
Although that is what exactly happened, the match was not that easy, with the great strength and weight of challenger Antonio Margarito, that played in his favor. However, since the match has ended, it proved that Manny Pacquiao is still the undaunted champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC) super welterweight title fight.
