CENTURION - Yusuf Pathan struck a valiant 105, but it was not enough as India lost to South Africa by 33 runs in a rain-curtailed fifth and final ODI — and with it the series 2-3.

Chasing a target of 268 runs in 46 overs as per Duckworth Lewis calculations, India were all out for 234 in 40.2 overs.

India were reeling at 119/8 before Pathan hit 105 off 70 balls to bring them back in contention. He shared a 100-run stand with Zaheer Khan (24) for the ninth wicket.

Morne Morkel (4-52) got rid of Pathan and South Africa soon cruised to victory.

Earlier, Hashim Amla struck an unbeaten century, but India managed well to restrict South Africa to 250/9 in 46 overs.
