The third-seeded Paes and Bhupathi won 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 against the 13th-seeded Spaniards Tommy Robredo and Marcell Granollers in the third round.
However, tenth-seeded Bopanna and Qureshi, who reached their maiden Grand Slam final in 2010 US Open, went down fighting to eighth-seeded Micheal Lodra of France and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia, 6-3, 6-7(6), 6-7(3) in the third round.
Had Bopanna and Qureshi won, they would have run into Paes-Bhupathi in the quarterfinals.
Paes and Bhupathi, who are playing together in a Grand Slam after nine years, now take on Llodra and Zimonjic.
