LONDON - Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed confidence about his team delivering the goods against Olympique Marseille today.

Manchester United still carry the aura of treble winners, as they did when they met Marseille 12 years ago. Then, a United side, with a midfield quartet of David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane and Ryan Giggs, lost 1-0.

Following a dismal FA Cup performance against non-League side Crawley Town on Saturday, Ferguson’s present team could yet emulate the class of 1999 by repeating the historic haul of Premier League, Premier League and FA Cup this season.

Wednesday’s line-up will, according to Marseille coach, Didier Deschamps, lack the “fantasy” of previous United incarnations.

United is due to travel to Chelsea and Liverpool in the Premier League, then play a likely FA Cup quarter-final against Arsenal at Old Trafford on March 12 before tackling Marseille in the last 16 return leg three days later.

The next three weeks are set to define the season for Ferguson and his players, the Sun reports. (ANI)
