A’s Outman leaves game with tightness in left arm
SAN DIEGO — Oakland A’s rookie pitcher Josh Outman left Friday night’s game against the San Diego Padres in the second inning with tightness in his left arm.
Outman allowed a leadoff homer to Chase Headley in the second inning and was then visited on the mound by manager Bob Geren and head trainer Steve Sayles. After a short discussion, Outman remained in the game.
He allowed Eliezer Alfonzo’s one-out single and pitcher Wade LeBlanc sacrificed him to second. Geren and Sayles then revisited the mound and Outman was removed from the game.
He was replaced by Edgar Gonzalez.
