Angels, Royals postponed due to rain
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Monday night’s game between the Los Angeles Angels and Kansas City Royals has been postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Tuesday.
Light rain started about three hours before the scheduled first pitch and picked up to a steady downpour about an hour later. The ground crew never removed the tarp from the field and the game was called around 8:40 p.m. — more than 90 minutes after its scheduled start.
The Angels swapped pitchers for the doubleheader, sending right-hander Ervin Santana out for the first game and rookie Sean O’Sullivan — Monday’s scheduled starter — for the second.
Kansas City kept its rotation in order, with right-hander Sidney Ponson pitching the first game and left-hander Bruce Chen the nightcap.
