Twins’ Slowey has surgery on right wrist
CLEVELAND — Minnesota Twins pitcher Kevin Slowey is out of surgery, and his right wrist is expected to be OK for spring training.
Slowey had a bone chip removed Tuesday. His wrist will require two to four months of rehabilitation and recovery.
The 25-year-old Slowey is 10-3. The Twins are in the middle of the AL Central race.
Slowey said last week that the bone chip was aggravated when he was hit by a line drive last September. He pitched with the injury all season until leaving a start on July 3 after three innings, and he went on the disabled list the following day.
Left-hander Francisco Liriano, who missed his last start because of a sore forearm, is scheduled to pitch Wednesday night against Cleveland.
