Maine beats St. Cloud State 34-27 in OT
ORONO, Maine — Quarterback Mike Brusko scored on a 1-yard run in overtime to lead Maine to a 34-27 win against St. Cloud State Thursday night.
The teams exploded for 24 points in the fourth quarter and there were six lead changes during the game. St. Cloud State (0-2), an NCAA Division II program, tied the game at 27-27 with 6 seconds left in regulation on a 30-yard field goal by Tyler Aldridge.
Maine took a 24-20 lead less than two minutes earlier on a 10-yard touchdown run by Derek Session, who led the Black Bears with 124 yards rushing. Brusko added 86 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.
Both teams combined for 708 yards of total offense.
Brandon Geiss led St. Cloud State with 104 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Mitch Watkins completed 22 of 36 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown. Fred Williams caught 15 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown.
