Tennessee State beats Jackson State 14-7
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Calvin McNairl ran for 101 yards and one touchdown to help Tennessee State beat Jackson State 14-7 on Saturday night.
McNairl, who finished with 14 carries, had 43 yards passing for Tennessee State (1-1). Preston Brown added 64 yards on the ground on 17 carries, including a 15-yard touchdown run to give Tennessee State a 14-0 lead with 6:35 left in the fourth quarter.
Jackson State (0-2) lost its seventh straight against Tennessee State.
Dedric McDonald completed 11 of 24 passes for 148 yards and one touchdown for Jackson State. Michael Mosley was 5 of 19 for 76 yards and one interception.
McDonald connected with Keenan Tillman on an 11-yard touchdown with 4:25 left. Jackson State drove to Tennessee State’s 8-yard line, but McDonald’s attempt to Anthony Mayes fell incomplete on the last play of the game.
