Uhaa’s 2 TDs lead Furman past Chattanooga 38-20
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Tersoo Uhaa rushed for two touchdowns to lead Furman to a 38-20 win against Chattanooga in the Southern Conference opener for both teams on Saturday night.
Uhaa rushed for 87 yards on 17 carries, and Jordan Sorrells was 11 of 19 passing for 139 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Paladins (2-0, 1-0).
Max Lerner opened the scoring with a 43-yard interception return and Sorrells connected with Chris Truss on a 2-yard score, putting Furman up 14-0 in the first quarter. Chattanooga (1-1, 0-1) pulled with a touchdown on B.J. Coleman’s 52-yard touchdown pass to Chris Awuah.
Furman then scored twice to take a commanding 28-10 halftime lead. Uhaa rushed for a 34-yard score to end the first quarter and a 1-yarder on the final play of the second.
Ryan Steed’s fumble recovery in the endzone put the Paladins ahead 35-13 in the third.
