Scioscia mum on MLB talks about umpires complaints

ARLINGTON, Texas — Angels manager Mike Scioscia isn’t commenting on talks with Major League Baseball officials about umpires’ complaints against the team’s coaching staff.

Scioscia and general manager Tony Reagins have spoken with Mike Port, baseball’s vice president for umpires, and Bob Watson, MLB’s vice president for discipline. Umpires claim Angels coaches were “unprofessional and unbecoming” after two late close calls went against them in a 9-8 loss in Boston on Wednesday night.

Before opening a series Friday in Texas, Scioscia said the incident is “behind us as far as we’re concerned.”

Scioscia wouldn’t comment when asked about possible disciplinary action or if he had been assured there would be no suspensions.
