Delaware beats Maine 27-17
ORONO, Maine — Pat Devlin threw for 329 yards and a touchdown and Leon Jackson rushed for two scores to lead Delaware to a 27-17 win over Maine on Saturday night.
David Hayes had 106 yards rushing on 17 attempts and one touchdown for the Blue Hens (3-2, 1-2 Colonial Athletic Association). Delaware trailed 17-14 with 9:14 left in the third quarter after Jordan Waxman kicked a 35-yard field goal.
But Jackson, who finished with 61 yards rushing on 23 carries, scored on a 2-yard run to put Delaware ahead for good with a four-point lead.
Delaware’s Mark Duncan caught four passes for 145 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown catch from Devlin in the first quarter.
Warren Smith was 23-for-36 with 258 yards passing, threw two touchdowns but had two interceptions for the Black Bears (2-3, 1-1). Landis Williams caught 10 passes for 104 yards.
