Last-second 34-yard field goal by Rooney lifts Brown to 34-31 win over Holy Cross

Brown beats Holy Cross 34-31 on field goal
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Patrick Rooney kicked a 34-yard field goal with 3 seconds left to lift Brown past Holy Cross 34-31 on Saturday.
Kyle Newhall set up the kick with 58 yards on 6-of-8 passing on the drive. Newhall finished with 431 yards on 46-of-61 passing.
Trevan Samp caught 15 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns. He put Brown (2-2) ahead 31-17 on a 22-yard pass from Newhall with 8:30 left in the third quarter.
The Crusaders (4-1) came back to tie the game with two touchdown catches by Rob Koster from Dominic Randolph.
Holy Cross evened the score at 31 when Koster caught a 30-yard pass from Randolph with 1:49 left.
Randolph was 38 of 53 for 411 yards and four touchdowns to lead Holy Cross. Luke Chmielinski had 117 yards on nine catches for the Crusaders.
