Marist rallies for 24-14 win over Morehead State

MOREHEAD, Ky. — James LaMacchia caught a 58-yard touchdown from Chris Debowski to spark Marist’s 24-14 victory over Morehead State on Saturday.

The Red Foxes (4-3, 3-2 Pioneer Football League) trailed 14-0 before the touchdown reception with 2:42 to go in the third.

Marist added 17 points in the fourth quarter on a field goal, a 6-yard run by O’Neil Anderson and a 6-yard pass from Debowski to Greg Whipple.

Debowski finished with 209 yards and two touchdowns on 12-of-29 passing and Anderson rushed for 69 yards. LaMacchia led the Red Foxes with 124 yards on six catches.

Morehead State’s Matt Ballard was thought to be the first coach to work the sidelines barefoot in support of the Samaritan’s Feet ministry.

Evan Sawyer was 13 of 25 for 140 yards and an interception for the Eagles (2-6, 0-5) and Desmond Cox rushed for 51 yards on nine carries.
