Tennessee-Martin defeats Austin Peay 48-38
MARTIN, Tenn. — Cade Thompson threw for 378 yards and four touchdowns as Tennessee-Martin defeated Austin Peay 48-38 on Saturday in the season finale for both teams.
Thompson was 20-for-37 with three interceptions and had TD passes of 7, 14, 5 and 13 yards. Mike Hicks caught two of the scoring strikes.
Miguel Barnes added 108 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries for the Skyhawks (5-6, 4-4 Ohio Valley Conference), who won three of their last four.
Tennessee-Martin took a 24-0 lead with 11:42 left in the first half. The Governors pulled within 27-17 with 3:39 left in the third quarter, then Thompson threw two TD passes within 42 seconds.
Barnes rushed for a 5-yard score with 10:37 left for a 48-17 lead. Austin Peay (4-7, 3-5) scored three touchdowns in the last 2:06, including a 25-yard fumble recovery.
Ryan White rushed for 58 yards and two scores for the Governors.
