Central Florida holds off Alabama-Birmingham 34-27
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Brett Hodges threw two touchdown passes and Central Florida beat Alabama-Birmingham 34-27 on Saturday.
Hodges went 24-for-38 for 230 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown pass to Kamir Aiken and a 5-yarder to Billy Giovanetti for the Knights (8-4, 6-2 Conference USA).
Brynn Harvey ran for 130 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown and went over the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season. Harvey’s score gave the Knights a 31-14 lead, all the cushion it would need.
The Blazers (5-7, 4-4) scored twice in the fourth quarter but lost for the second time in a row and failed to become bowl eligible.
Blazers’ quarterback Joe Webb led the late rally with a 35-yard touchdown pass to Jeffrey Anderson and a 5-yard scoring pass to Frantrell Forrest. Webb went 20-for-35 with 332 yards passing and rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown.
