Johnson scores 5 points late in OT to lift Belmont to a 94-90 win over Mercer

Belmont beats Mercer 94-90 in overtime
MACON, Ga. — Kerron Johnson hit a 3-pointer and added two free throws late in overtime, and Belmont beat Mercer 94-90 on Saturday for its fifth straight win.
The Bruins (6-2, 2-0 Atlantic Sun) have won 12 of the past 13 meetings against Mercer.
With the score tied at 87, Johnson’s 3-pointer gave the Bruins a 90-87 lead with 1:17 left in overtime. Johnson, who scored 13 points, added two free throws with 11 seconds to go to push the lead to 92-88.
Ian Clark led the Bruins with 22 points, Mick Hedgepeth added 20 and Keaton Belcher had 14.
It was the second straight overtime win for the Bruins, who have won their last three games by nine points or less.
The Bears (3-5, 0-2) have lost two straight. James Florence led all scorers with 25 points for the Bears. Daniel Emerson had 14 points and 14 rebounds, Brian Mills scored 14 points, and Brandon Moore had 13.
