Louisiana Tech holds off Murray State 87-81
RUSTON, La. — Jamel Guyton scored 21 points to lead Louisiana Tech to an 87-81 victory over Murray State on Tuesday night.
Guyton was 5-for-6 from the field, going 4-for-4 on 3-point attempts, and the Bulldogs (9-2) used a 15-2 second half run to take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish to snap the Racers’ eight-game winning streak.
David Jackson scored all five of his points and Guyton hit a 3-pointer as Louisiana Tech turned a 54-52 deficit with 14:08 remaining in the game into a 67-56 lead with 8:36 left.
Murray State (8-2) twice cut the margin to three points, including 81-78 on Isaiah Canaan’s two free throws with 21 seconds left, but couldn’t get closer.
DeAndre Brown had 19 points, Kyle Gibson scored 18 and Magnum Rolle added 11 for the Bulldogs.
Isacc Miles scored 20, Canaan had 15, B.J. Jenkins added 12, and Danero Thomas and Ivan Aska scored 10 points each for the Racers.
