Fuertado’s 22 points, basket in overtime help Grambling State edge Alabama A&M 64-62

Grambling State holds off Alabama A&M 64-62 in OT
GRAMBLING, La. — Lance Fuertado scored 22 points, including the go-ahead basket in overtime of Grambling State’s 64-62 victory over Alabama A&M on Wednesday night.
Fuertado’s layup with 2:13 remaining in the extra period gave the Tigers (3-7, 1-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) a 62-60 lead.
Kevin Loyd’s two free throws made it 64-60 with 1:29 left. Casey Cantey’s layup pulled the Bulldogs (3-7, 0-2) within 64-62.
Grambling State led nearly the entire game. Alabama A&M trailed until Cornelius Hester’s jumper made it 56-56 at the 2:35 mark.
Jonathan Inman’s jumper for Alabama A&M made it 58-58 with 1:09 left in regulation and he began overtime with another jumper before George Akpele’s layup tied it for the Tigers.
Loyd scored 12 points and Donald Qualls 11 for Grambling State. Akpele grabbed 14 rebounds and Fuertado 13.
Hester scored 17 points and Cantey 16 for the Bulldogs.
