No. 18 BYU tops Air Force 67-49
AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — Jack Emery scored 21 points to lead No. 18 BYU to a 67-49 win over Air Force on Wednesday night, for the Cougars’ 12th straight win.
BYU (17-1, 1-0 Mountain West Conference) improved to 51-12 all-time against the Falcons (8-8, 0-3).
The Cougars held the Falcons to 18 second-half points after leading 36-31 at the half. BYU held Air Force to just 33.3-percent shooting from the field for the game and finished with a 38-28 rebounding advantage.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle, with six lead changes and a flurry of 3-pointers from both teams. BYU connected on 5-of-13 shots from beyond the arc, and Air Force hit 6-of-14 from 3-point range in the half.
Derrick Brooks led Air Force with 10 points, Mike Fitzgerald had nine and Zach Bohannon added a career-high eight points in the loss.
