McDowell’s 21 leads five in double figures in William & Mary’s 85-78 win over James Madison

William & Mary defeats James Madison 85-78
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Quinn McDowell scored 21 points to lead five players in double figures and William & Mary defeated James Madison 85-78 on Thursday night.
The Tribe (12-2, 5-1 Colonial Athletic Association) led 75-63 on David Schneider’s 3-pointer with 3:13. But the Dukes (8-8, 2-4) used a 19-3 run to close within four, 82-78, on a Pierre Curtis layup with 23 seconds remaining.
The Dukes then missed a shot and turned the ball over as William and Mary sealed it on three free throws for its third straight win.
Schneider finished with 15 points and JohnMark Ludwick, Sean McCurdy and Danny Sumner added 11 each for the Tribe, who won their third straight.
Denzel Bowles scored 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting for James Madison, which lost for the first time in four meetings with the Tribe.
Darren White and Curtis added 15 points apiece for the Dukes.
