Moore, Hailey lead balanced Gardner-Webb scoring in 92-84 win over Virginia Military

Gardner-Webb holds off Virginia Military 92-84
LEXINGTON, Va. — Jonathan Moore and C.J. Hailey led six Gardner-Webb players in double figures as the Bulldogs held off Virginia Military Institute 92-84 on Saturday night.
The Runnin’ Bulldogs (5-12, 2-5 Big South Conference), who ended a two-game skid, used a 17-6 run to lead 60-45 with 12:13 left.
The Keydets (5-11, 1-6) got within 84-78 with 58 seconds left. Gardner-Webb then shot 8-for-10 from the foul line as VMI was 2-for-5 from 3-point range.
VMI, which entered the game as the nation’s scoring leader (90.3 points), shot 36.6 percent from the field (30-for-82) and 11-for-43 from beyond the arc.
Stefon Johnson added 15 points for the Runnin’ Bulldogs, who shot 49.3 percent (35-for-71). Brian McNair had 11 and Josh Henley and Anton Silver had 10 each.
Stan Okoye had 20 for the Keydets, Michael Sparks 19 and Austin Kenon 18 to become the 34th VMI player to surpass 1,000.
