ATHENS, Ohio — Tommy Freeman scored a career-high 27 points and Ohio beat Buffalo 99-77 on Saturday.
Jay Kinney added 18 points, Armon Bassett had 16, and Kenneth Van Kempen and Reggie Keely each had 10 for the Bobcats (10-9, 1-4 Mid-American Conference). D.J. Cooper added a career-high seven steals.
The Bobcats snapped a four-game losing streak and won for the first time in eight games in the conference, dating back to last season.
The Bobcats led 47-31 at halftime and built a 25-point lead at 66-41 after a layup by Van Kempen with 16:17 remaining. The lead never dipped below 12 points the rest of the way.
Ohio outscored Buffalo 42-14 in the paint and had 22 fast-break points compared to four for the Bulls.
John Boyer had 20 points and six 3-pointers, both career highs, for the Bulls (10-6, 3-2). Sean Smiley added 18 points and Rodney Pierce had 17.
