NJIT routs Chicago State 66-37

NEWARK, N.J. — Jheryl Wilson scored 23 points and New Jersey Institute of Technology routed Chicago State 66-37 on Saturday.

Isaiah Wilkerson, who has scored in double figures in 17 of 19 games this season, added 17 points for the Highlanders (6-13, 1-2 Great West Conference). Ten of 12 NJIT players on the roster scored.

The win snapped the Highlanders’ four-game losing streak against Chicago State, who lost for the ninth straight time. It was the third game this season the Cougars have been held to 40 points or less.

NJIT led 40-16 at halftime and was never threatened. The Highlanders shot 40 percent from the field (22-for-55) while the Cougars shot 26.9 percent (14-for-52). The Highlanders forced 20 turnovers and came up with 10 steals, including four by Chris Flores.

Christian Wall scored 11 points and Carl Montgomery had a game-high 12 rebounds for the Cougars (5-16, 0-4).
