Wis.-Green Bay defeats Youngstown State 69-55
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Troy Cotton scored 23 points and Wisconsin-Green Bay defeated Youngstown State 69-55 on Sunday.
The Phoenix (15-7, 7-3 Horizon League) scored 25 points off 16 turnovers, and led by as many as 18. Cotton’s 3-pointer gave Wisconsin-Green Bay a 69-51 advantage with 2:04 remaining.
Cotton hit a career-high 7 of 12 3-pointers, and moved past Ryan Tillema for second place on Wisconsin-Green Bay’s career 3-pointers list with 234.
The Penguins (7-12, 2-8) cut the lead to 50-44 on Dan Boudler’s layup with 10:38 remaining. But they went without a field goal for 8 minutes, and missed 12 of their final 19 free throw attempts.
Randy Berry’s free throw capped the 16-5 run and Wisconsin-Green Bay led 66-49 with 2:56 left.
DeAndre Mays and Kelvin Bright scored 10 points apiece for Youngstown State, which lost its fourth straight.
