Siena defeats Manhattan 65-58, wins 10th straight
NEW YORK — Alex Franklin scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Siena defeat Manhattan 65-58 on Sunday.
Ryan Rossiter chipped in 16 points and 13 rebounds in the Saints’ 11th straight win.
Siena (17-4, 10-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) shot 42 percent from the field (21 of 50), while holding the Jaspers (7-13, 2-8) to 36.8 percent shooting (21 of 57) for their fifth straight loss.
Manhattan, which trailed by as much as 60-49 with 5:27 to go, pulled within 61-58 on Darryl Crawford’s free throw with 1:23 to play. But the Saints sealed the victory with four straight free throws.
The Jaspers led 15-14 with 11:26 left in the first half before Siena went on a 12-2 run and led 26-17. Kyle Griffin capped the spurt on a 3-pointer with 5:54 left until halftime.
Rico Pickett scored 20 points for Manhattan, which dropped its fifth straight to the Saints.
