Colts’ Cajun connection ready to take on Saints

INDIANAPOLIS — Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne grew up as Saints fans.

Joseph Addai won a national championship at LSU and was in school when Hurricane Katrina hit.

If it was any other team in the Super Bowl, the Colts’ Cajun connection would probably be rooting for New Orleans in next week’s Super Bowl. Not now.

All three acknowledged they had close ties to Louisiana on Wednesday, the first time since winning the AFC title that Colts players discussed their next opponent.

Manning’s ties go back a generation, when his father was the face of the Saints franchise. Wayne talked about Eric Martin being his favorite receiver growing up, and Addai recalled the time LSU was canceling games to help house those affected by Katrina.
