Princeton beats Brown 63-46 in Ivy League opener

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Douglas Davis scored 14 of his 16 points in the first half and Princeton opened Ivy League play with a 63-46 win over Brown on Friday night.

The Tigers (10-5) took a double-digit lead with 11:19 left in the first half and kept that cushion the rest of the game. Princeton led 40-18 at halftime en route to its third straight win and eighth in the last nine games.

Davis was 6-for-11 from the field and 4-for-8 from 3-point range.

The Tigers, ranked No. 2 in Division I in scoring defense at 55.1 points per game allowed — behind Old Dominion at 54.8 — had its largest lead at 58-32 with 9:17 left.

Matt Mullery led the Bears (7-13, 1-2) with 10 points. He scored 19 last year when Brown beat Princeton 61-43 in Providence.

The Tigers outshot the Bears 43.9 percent (25-for-57) to 30 percent (12-for-40). Brown made 20 of 28 foul shots compared to 4 of 8 for Princeton.
