Goodell says ‘09 was ‘an excellent season’

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says it has been “an excellent season” in the league.

Opening his annual state-of-the-league address on Friday in South Florida two days before the Super Bowl, Goodell noted that the NFL will have many challenges going forward, but reiterated that attempts need to be made to “make the game better.”

Goodell says making the game safer for players and more entertaining for fans are points of emphasis.
