BHUBANESWAR - Several sports organisations of Orissa have come together to oppose Kalinga Sena, a fringe outfit in Orissa, for threatening to disrupt the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in Cuttack.

More than 20 organisations have formed a Sports Lovers’ Association to oppose the Kalinga Sena’s move.

“We have formed an association - Sports Lovers’ Association - to oppose the Kalinga Sena’s move,” Sahadev Rout, general secretary of Women’s Football Association of Orissa, told IANS.

“It is a good thing that the IPL matches are coming here. Instead of supporting it, some people are opposing it for political mileage. It is really sad,” he added.

Pratap Satpathy, the president of Orissa Hockey Association, said: “It is a cheap publicity stunt by the Kalinga Sena. We appeal to them to refrain from it.”

The Kalinga Sena threatened to disrupt the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches in Cuttack unless Australian cricketers were barred from playing and cheer-leader girls excluded from the game.
