EMMITSBURG, Md. — Shawn Atupem scored 15 points and Will Holland had a double-double to lead Mount St. Mary’s to a 67-51 victory over St. Francis (Pa.) on Thursday night.
Holland had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Mountaineers (14-14, 11-6 Northeast Conference), who shot 64.7 percent from the field (11-for-17) to win their ninth consecutive game.
Mount St. Mary’s, which has won by double figures in seven straight games, led by 15 points in the first half, but St. Francis (11-17, 9-8) cut the deficit to 38-36 on Will Felder’s dunk with 13:18 remaining.
The Mountaineers retaliated with a 15-2 run, capping it on Kelly Beidler’s free throws for a 53-38 advantage with 7:48 left.
Beidler finished with 12 points and Jeremy Goode had 10 for Mount St. Mary’s.
Devin Sweetney scored 15 and Sorena Orandi added 12 points for St. Francis, which had a four-game winning streak snapped.
