Haryana to establish academies to promote sports

CHANDIGARH - In a bid to give sports a boost, the state government will establish various sports academies in different parts of Haryana in the coming months, an official said here Monday.
The government spokesperson Monday said they are also considering opening a sports university in the state.
“Keeping in mind the need to promote sports in a big way and to provide opportunities to young talent, the government will establish cricket, boxing, football, wrestling and kabaddi academies in different parts of Haryana. We are also considering to establish a sports university in the state,” said the government spokesperson.
According to the officials, a boxing academy will come up in Bhiwani, cricket academy in Jhajjar, football academy in Gurgoan, and kabaddi and wrestling academies will be set up in Rohtak town.
“Boxing academy in Bhiwani would start from April. Initially, it would start in a private building but its original building will be ready in due course of time,” stated the spokesperson.
