Buffalo knocks off Toledo 72-54
AMHERST, N.Y. — Max Boudreau scored a season-high 18 points and Calvin Betts had 13 points as Buffalo rolled over Toledo 72-54 in the first round of the Mid-American Conference tournament on Sunday.
Buffalo’s win sets up a matchup against No. 4 seed Miami (Ohio) at 9 p.m. March 11 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
The Bulls (18-11) never trailed, shooting 29 of 61 from the floor and 8 of 9 from the foul line while outrebounding Toledo 39-26. Buffalo scored the first seven points and led 35-22 lead at halftime.
Toledo (4-28) was 10-for-23 in the first half, converting just 2-for-7 3-point attempts.
Boudreau was 8 of 10 from the floor and grabbed six rebounds. Sean Smiley poured in 12 points, draining 3 of 5 from beyond the arc.
Jake Barnett led Toledo with 13 points and nine rebounds. Malcolm Griffin had 12. The Rockets shot 43.1 percent (22-for-51) from the floor.
