Cleveland’s Carmona pitches well in 7-7 tie
GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Fausto Carmona pitched three scoreless innings and the Cleveland Indians blew a three-run lead in the ninth against a Los Angeles Angels split-squad.
The Indians failed to score in their half of the ninth and the game ended in a tie.
Cleveland shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera left with an undisclosed injury in the fourth inning. He walked off after tripling, then diving back on a pickoff attempt.
Mike Napoli had a three-run homer in the first inning and added a run-scoring double for the Angels.
Carmona gave up one hit and struck out one in his first outing this spring. The right-hander, a 19-game winner in 2007, is seeking to bounce back from a poor 2009 during which he went 5-12 and was sent back to the minors for two months.
