Longoria leads Rays to 6-2 win over Yankees

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Evan Longoria had an RBI double and scored a run, and Ben Zobrist and Carl Crawford each hit late RBI singles for the Tampa Bay Rays in a 6-2 win over a split squad of New York Yankees on Friday night.

Yankees starter Sergio Mitre gave up two runs and struck out seven in five innings. Chad Gaudin gave up seven singles and four runs — three earned — in 2 1-3 innings.

Jeff Niemann gave up Juan Miranda’s homer. He allowed six hits and two runs while striking out seven in 4 2-3 innings for Tampa Bay.
