Gonzalez homers to lead Nats past Mets
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Alberto Gonzalez hit a two-run homer off Kiko Calero in the 10th inning to give the Washington Nationals a 7-5 victory over the New York Mets on Saturday.
Cristian Guzman had three hits and Josh Willingham drove in two runs for the Nationals split-squad.
David Wright went 3 for 3 with two RBIs for New York, raising his spring average to .317. Luis Castillo hit a three-run homer.
Craig Stammen pitched five innings for the Nationals, yielding two runs and five hits. The right-hander walked two and struck out two.
Francisco Rodriguez tossed two scoreless innings for New York in relief of Hisanori Takahashi. Rodriguez struck out three and allowed two hits.
