Carmona sharp for Indians in 2-0 win over D-Backs

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Fausto Carmona struck out three over seven scoreless innings and the Cleveland Indians beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-0 Saturday.

Arizona’s Ian Kennedy gave up two runs, including a solo homer to Grady Sizemore, over six innings. The right-hander, part of the Diamondbacks’ rotation after being acquired in a three-team trade that included the New York Yankees, gave up five hits and struck out three.

Carmona was even more impressive. A 19-game winner in 2007 who struggled so badly in 2009 that he was sent to the minors, the right-hander didn’t walk a batter and allowed only three hits.
