Yankees hit 4 homers in 11-7 win over Orioles
SARASOTA, Fla. — David Winfree replaced injured Mark Teixeira and hit a three-run homer, one of four launched by the New York Yankees in an 11-7 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.
Teixeira left in the second inning with a bruised right elbow after being struck by a fastball from Jeremy Guthrie. X-rays were not taken, and Teixeira watched the rest of the game in the dugout.
With a 24 mph wind blowing out toward center field, Robinson Cano hit a three-run drive off Guthrie in the first inning. Winfree connected against Mark Hendrickson in the sixth, Marcus Thames hit a solo shot off Matt Albers in the seventh and P.J. Pilittere added a solo drive against Patrick Egan.
Adam Jones and Luke Scott homered for the Orioles.
