Yanks’ Teixeira hit by pitch in elbow, leaves game
SARASOTA, Fla. — New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira has a bruised right elbow after being hit by a pitch in a game against the Baltimore Orioles.
Teixeira was batting in the second inning against Jeremy Guthrie when hit by a fastball. Teixeira immediately left the game and was replaced by David Winfree.
Teixeira was examined by New York’s team doctor and an Orioles orthopedist. X-rays were not taken.
The first baseman remained in the dugout to watch the game.
