KU’s Self shows his moves in promo video
LAWRENCE, Kan. — Other than the occasional scream at an official, Bill Self is one of the more straight-laced coaches in college basketball.
But when it came time to promote Bill’s Basketball Boogie, the Kansas coach let loose with a little boogie of his own.
Dressed in a white, butterfly-collared leisure suit with a half-unbuttoned black shirt that reveals a bevy of gold chains, Self unleashes his best disco moves on a promo video for the charity shindig he’s holding June 11 at the College Basketball Experience in Kansas City.
Self apparently caught a little bit of “Saturday Night Fever,” offering up the familiar, up-and-down John Travolta pointing move in the video. He also does a twirl and the two-fingers-over-the-eyes move while shaking and moving in front of a disco ball.
Disco, turns out, isn’t quite dead.
