Blair stifles Hawaii as Arizona State cruises
TEMPE, Ariz. — Seth Blair scattered three hits over seven innings as No. 1 national seed Arizona State cruised into the championship game of the Tempe Regional with a 12-1 victory over Hawaii on Saturday night.
Blair (12-0) was totally in command, giving up one run, striking out eight and walking none for the Sun Devils (49-8). His only blemish was a seventh-inning homer by Jeffery Van Doornum.
The Rainbows (34-27) will face San Diego in an elimination game Sunday. The winner must then beat Arizona State twice to advance.
Zack MacPhee went 4 for 5 with a two-run homer and three RBIs, Johnny Ruettiger drove in three runs, Deven Marrero hit a two-run homer and had three RBIs, and Raoul Torrez and Kole Calhoun hit solo shots.
