Fullerton advances to Super Regional

FULLERTON, Calif. — Christian Colon had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in three runs as Cal State Fullerton beat Minnesota 9-5 on Monday night to win the Fullerton Regional.

The Titans (44-16), who have won 27 of their last 30 games, will face UCLA in the NCAA Super Regionals.

Fullerton’s Corey Jones drove in three runs, including a solo homer, extended his hitting streak to 24 games and was named the regional’s most outstanding player.

Teammate Nick Ramirez added a two-run homer, and pitcher Raymond Hernandez retired the first eight batters he faced in three innings of relief to earn his first victory.

Michael Kvasnicka had three hits and two RBIs for the Golden Gophers (32-30), who were trying to qualify for their first Super Regional. Kyle Geason added a solo homer.
