Saints sign Frank Viola’s son to pitch
ST. PAUL, Minn. — The St. Paul Saints are hoping to hear some sweet music from their newest player.
The Saints of the independent American Association said Tuesday they’ve signed Frank Viola III, a right-handed pitcher and the 26-year-old son of former Minnesota Twins ace Frank Viola.
Viola III last pitched in 2007 with the Chicago White Sox organization. He hasn’t pitched since then because of injury.
The elder Viola was the MVP of the 1987 World Series and the AL Cy Young Award winner in 1988 for the Twins.
