Little Fenway a big hit for players and charity
ESSEX, Vt. — In Vermont, a small replica of a big-league park is gearing up for its signature event.
Little Fenway is a backyard version of the Boston Red Sox’s home. Starting Friday, it will play host to the ninth annual Travis Roy Foundation Tournament, a Wiffle Ball tournament featuring 25 teams.
The event has raised $715,000 for the charity formed by Roy, a former Boston University hockey player paralyzed in his first game in 1995.
Pat O’Connor built the park in 2001 and added a Little Wrigley field next to it in 2007. He says working on the little ballparks was a labor of love.
