Gilliland leads Georgia to LLWS win
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Kobie Buglioli’s homer highlighted a three-run first and Troy Gilliland struck out six Tuesday to lead unbeaten Columbus, Ga., past Hamilton, Ohio, 6-0 at the Little League World Series.
Matthew Lang added an opposite-field homer to left in the fourth for Georgia. His brother, Ryan, played on a Columbus team that won the 2006 title.
Gilliland shut out an Ohio team that scored 16 runs in a win Saturday over New Jersey. Ohio’s best chance came in the fifth after the first two runners reached base, but Garrett Hogan was thrown out at third on a single and Gilliland got a popup and a fly ball to end the inning.
Landon Stephens went 2 for 3 with a double for Ohio, which will meet Hawaii in an elimination game on Wednesday.
