Rangers now affiliated with Ryan’s Round Rock team

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Triple-A affiliate owned by Texas Rangers president Nolan Ryan is now a farm club for his big league franchise.

The Rangers announced Thursday they were moving their Triple-A team to Round Rock after 28 years in Oklahoma City. The move was expected after Ryan became a part owner of the Rangers.

The Ryan family has owned the Round Rock franchise since it started as a Houston Astros affiliate in 2000. Round Rock had been Houston’s Triple-A team since 2005.

The Astros’ Double-A team in Corpus Christi is also owned by the Ryans but will remain affiliated with Houston. The Rangers’ Double-A team is in the Dallas suburb of Frisco.
